Hi Jennie, I wanted to send a quick hello to let you know that I miss everyone at NC Gymnastics. Boston has been a major change for me but I believe I am finally adjusting to the cold weather and urban life. It is much different than the roaming pastures of Shelby. I have been watching the status of our NC gymnasts and am proud to see the continued growth. I hope to see some of the coaches in Boston in a few days now. I also wanted to share a bit of news about Brittany, my daughter. She had a very good season at Springfield this year capturing “Specialist of the Week” honors for ECAC Division III for career highs on vault and beam during week four posted February 6, 2008. (http://www.ecacsports.com/sports/winter/wgym/potw/2007-08/week_4_08 ) Brittany followed this up by qualifying for ECAC Nationals in both Beam and Vault. At nationals, Britt qualified for the vault finals with a 9.6. Unfortunately, Britt drew the first vault position of the night at finals but scored a solid 9.5 placing her 10^th in the event finals. This secured her as a second team Division III All-American. As you may imagine, I am beaming both as a parent and a coach. Additionally, Alex Ploenes, also at Springfield, had a very solid year qualifying for Nationals in the All-Around. Alex suffered a very uncharacteristic fall on the beam resulting in her finishing one position out of finals. Please give my best to everyone at NC-USAG.
