NC USA Gymnastics May Newsletter
Notification
Hard copy, e-copy, and posted copy on nc-usag.org
Hello to all NC
USAG professional members:
This is the May
newsletter that has gone out in the past as an information-gathering tool.
I’m sending it out this year in an abbreviated paper copy to all
professional members current as of May 13, 2008 and as an e-copy to those on
the list serve for NC USAG.
If you are a
member who does not receive both paper and e-copy, then I don’t have all of
your communicative information. Please help me out by letting me know in an
e-mail with your current e-mail address. I’ll be purging the addresses that
are not being received and/or being blocked.
Jack is
wonderful about getting everything posted quickly. Here’s what to look for
on the nc-usag.org website:
-
Club list request (directory
information that will be posted and printed in mid-June)
-
State Meet bid request form and
competition meet date request form
-
Board minutes from may 7,
2008. The next meeting will be June 1 in Burlington. That’ll be the time
that the season’s schedule will be set and state meet bids will be
awarded.
-
The dates for the Rookie 1 and
2 State Meet will be March 21-22, 2009 (the weekend before 7-10 State
Meet, and the Novice – Prep I State Meet will be April 4-5, 2009 (the
weekend after 7-10 State Meet)
-
I’ll be asking Jack to post the
meet request dates as they come in. That way, the folks who were first in
line will get a degree of priority and others may see where there are
openings on less crowded weekends. This may help alleviate the last
minute jockeying to equalize the number of meets per weekend.
-
I’m posting a spreadsheet of
the fees collected during the 2007-08 season. Some clubs have forgotten
to send in their athlete registrations of $10 per registered athlete.
Some meet directors have also forgotten to send the competition fees from
their meets during the year. Please check the spreadsheet to see if I’ve
made a mistake, or if you have just neglected to get it done. The
downside of this process is that the NC USAG account is very low right now
and we still have financial obligations.
-
In order for qualifying meet requests to
be honored, all financial obligations to the NC USAG state must be
satisfied by May 31st.
-
The IT guy at Arapahoe Charter
is helping me created a general information survey for the professional
membership (it’s called a Zoomerang survey). I’ll ask Jack to post the
link on the website. The ideas ya’ll give will help us set qualifying
scores for State Meets on the June 1 Board meeting, give us some
understandings of the Level demographics for North Carolina, and help with
State Clinic session planning. The survey should be ready for the website
link by Monday, May 19th.
-
The State Clinic will be on August 8-10,
2008 @ Salem Gymnastics in Winston-Salem.
Your
help in having all of this information passed along to other professional
members would be appreciated. We had an exceptionally good year in North
Carolina’s gymnastics this year, and hope to continue to grow with quality
next year.
