* Gym C's are allowed

* 1:30 maximum time limit on floor exercise

Regional Prep Opt Rules Update

9/11/2010 Clarification

At the National Training Camp in Atlanta this weekend, there was a 2 1/2 hour session discussing the Region 8 Prep rules, judging sample routines, and listening to concerns.  We have a pretty good idea of how to judge with some consistency from across the Region. RTC, Marian Dykes and the members of the Region 8 Board were in the room helping with the concerns and clarifications.  Note the date on the attached set of rules.  I'd suggest that you throw the others away.

NAWGJ Compulsory Judges Clinic

Designed to refresh our memory of the compulsory routines and deductions prior to the compulsory judging season.  All four events will have lectures and practice judging, as well as, session on general professionalism and expectations for officials.  Judges will receive clinic hours for participation.  This will be our only summer in - state education opportunity.

2010 Regional Congresses

Debby Kornegay is asking that each club and professional member go to the link attached to update information for the Region 8 address book.  Let's try to have 100% of NC represented.  The deadline is May 27th.  This is the same information that I'll be needing for NC's information database, so if you send it to her, I'll get it also. 

I am sending the dates state meets and forms needed for your bids and requests for invitational dates in a separate email tonight.  I am asking Jack to post the forms on the website also.

Would someone from each gymnastics clubs please check the information on the NC-USAG.org website for accuracy.  Please email jenniekadams@coastalnet.com to confirm or correct the information there.  For example, Impact Gymnastics, please update to info for Team Attraction.

Just wanted to let all of you know how wonderful the gymnasts from North Carolina were in the Level 7 and Level 8 Regionals this week in Mississippi.  Oh my!  The jaws were dropping we did so well.  To look at the scores, please go to the mississippi usag website.  Congratulations to all our gymnasts and coaches and parents, and especially to our Level 7 and Level 8 teams who took first place again - that's two years in a row.  Oh my!

Last Minute Information Before State Meets

I hope not to make this long.  I’m just emphasizing the important stuff to remember.

For coaches with gymnasts who qualify to Regionals:

·        It’s best to fill out entry form sheet with all gymnasts in your club and cross off those that don’t make the score or cut.  This can be done before you come to the meet.  I’ll attach the form, but am asking Jack to post on the website.

WOMEN’S NATIONAL Committee Chair Positions

All nominees must be USA Gymnastics Women’s Program Professional Members in good standing for a minimum of two consecutive years immediately prior to the nomination, be at least 21 years old, and meet the prerequisites in Article V of the Operating Code Sections E and G found posted on the USA Gymnastics website, Women’s Program home page under the Rules link. The positions are four (4) year terms 2010-2014.  Term of office will begin August 1, 2010.

PREP optional entries to regionals

Attached is entry form for PREP opt Regionals and link to meet minders for entries.  We need to go ahead and distribute this to coaches and asked them to go ahead and enter.  If a club enters an athlete as an individual  now and then that athlete makes their state team we can move them if they do not want to compete twice.

Prep Optional - Regional

This message is for coaches of prep optional gymnasts here in North Carolina.

Deb Kornegay has asked that all the states in Region 8 poll their Prep teams to see how coaches will would place their gymnasts in the Prep REgional which will be in Charlotte (Cabarrus County actually) in April, run by Southeastern Gymnastics.

At our Board meeting Saturday night it was decided that NC's levels of Preps will convert in the following way:

·         Rookie 1 & 2 will enter Regionals as Bronze

·         Novice will enter Regionals as Silver
